Hailed by the New York Times for her “lightning-fast reflexes,” Pauline Kim Harris has been notably described as “a sorceress of the violin.” A Grammy-nominated artist (Universal/Decca), she engages her audiences world-wide in ground-breaking classical and genre-bending crossover, to the cutting-edge experimental/avant-garde. Most recently, her recording of John Zorn’s Passagen for Solo Violin was released on Tzadik. She will soon be featured in a double vinyl album of works composed for String Noise, her “enterprising violin duo” with husband Conrad Harris of FLUX Quartet, as well as a CD of music by composer Phill Niblock. Some highlights include performances with Peter Gabriel, Sting, Jeff Beck, Jay Z, John Cale, and Joni Mitchell and recordings for Lenny Kravitz, Jane Siberry, Tyondai Braxton, and David Byrne/Fat Boy Slim. She has collaborated with Gordon Monahan and appeared as a soloist in the premiere of Short Memory by Pam Tanowitz for the New York Theatre Ballet.

Recent performances include a production of Samuel Beckett plays with the Cygnus Ensemble directed by Joy Zinoman, the Southeast Asian premiere of John Zorn’s Contes de Fees with the Thailand Philharmonic Orchestra, shows with Project SiS (with cellist Christine Kim) and world premieres of work by John Zorn and David Lang. She is also a member of the S.E.M Ensemble, Ostravská banda, O.B. SQ, Ensemble, LPR, and the Wordless Music Orchestra. As the current Music Director of the Bill T. Jones/Arnie Zane Dance Company she performed with the Orion String Quartet at The Joyce Theatre. As quoted in the Wall Street Journal, Pauline Kim Harris is “always trying to expand and create a new listening experience”. She curated a series this spring in NYC at Spectrum (Premieres! Plus) and The Firehouse Space (June Jamboree). Soon to be released is a feature video of Eric Lyon’s Variations on Psycho Killer for Solo Violin.
