Canticum Ostrava is a vocal ensemble consisting of professional singers, mainly opera singers from the National Moravian-Silesian Theatre and students from the Faculty of Arts at the University of Ostrava. Canticum Ostrava is a genre-universal choir able to perform a wide scale of forms and styles. The Artistic Director and conductor is Jurij Galatenko, the chief choirmaster of the National Moravian-Silesian Theatre Opera. Originally established in 2003 to meet Ostrava Days’ needs, Canticum Ostrava is still the festival’s resident vocal ensemble.
